King OF Envy

Title: King of envy

Author: Ana Huang

Genre: romance

Publisher: Bloom Books

Here’s the blurb for y’all to update your TBR list:

Dangerous. Powerful. Reclusive.
Vuk Markovic is notorious for shunning human interactions. The scarred billionaire rarely talks, and he has no interest in relationships outside his small but trusted circle.

His only exception? Her. The beauty to his beast, the object of his obsession.

He saw her first. He wanted her first. But now, she’s engaged to his oldest friend – and the closer the wedding looms, the more he’s torn between loyalty and desire.

She should be his… and he might just risk it all to have her.

Beautiful. Successful. Glamorous.
To the world, supermodel Ayana Kidane leads the perfect life. Her career has skyrocketed, and she’s engaged to one of New York’s most eligible bachelors.

What people don’t know is that the engagement is only a business arrangement. He gets his inheritance when they marry; she gets the money she needed to leave her abusive agency.

Pretending to be in love should be easy – until she finds herself increasingly drawn to her fiancés enigmatic best man.

Vuk thrills and terrifies her in equal measure. She knows she should stay away, but when her wedding is thrown into chaos, he’s the only person who makes her feel safe…..

Until his past catches up with them and threatens everything they love.

Mhmm, the main characters together were a lil bland, and the starting theme of the story was a little…. not my type, so I didn’t really enjoy it- I literally read the first half of the book just for the sake of reading, like it was THAT bland.

Vuk Markovic- hawtiieeeee fr! and I truly screamed UNHINGED! UNHINGED! UNHINGED!  at all of his scenes, I swear. He was a complex character, yes, but the author really missed some minor details about him at many instances- like about his talking,  name-calling, and at some point, people as well . But nvm, he was a great individual to read and explore more and more!

Ayana Kidane- Ummmm, felt like a very weak character as an individual, as if she everytime needed someone for her help, even after past incidents. Not really enjoyed her as an individual- like naah , not my type!!

For me, the book started after half of its whole content- in starting it was just off to read about….. fake engagement and ……. affair?!

THEM as a couple were… pretty good but not that good good. It’s just that their spicy scenes were a lil too spicy! Also, Vuk deserved much better than Ayana, and that was felt in many instances!

Just a random point, but I expected Xavier to be like Vuk, I mean, as Sloane’s partner. It’d be fun to read, but fine. okay. It was a nice experience at the end… maybe?!

P.S. Shadow overpowered everyone, and it was damn hilarious to read about him and his banters (?!) and weird possible reactions with his owner. Also, that heroic entry of his in THAT scene! IFUCKINGLOVEDIT!
I always knew Roman could never be a traitor to Vuk (ok, I’m lying) and that whole last scene with him, damn! And one piece of advice, he should be the one who must be renamed as shadow😏

PS. First book from this series where parents were normal💀- and it was necessary to support Vuk as a character!

I’d rate this book 2.5/5 – plot was a bit of a surprise, but it was easy to guess and a LOTTTT of detailing, which was the reason the book was THIS thick(😏).
