Here’s the blurb for y’all to update your TBR list:
Everyone Juliette has ever cared about may be dead – the rebels, her friends, and even Adam could all be gone. But that won’t keep her from trying to take down The Reestablishment once and for all.
And now Juliette must rely on Warner. The one person she never thought she could trust. The same person who saved her life. He promises to help Juliette master her powers and save their dying world – but that’s not all he wants with her…..
This was a good read, but some scenes are so repetitive that it kills the fun.
Kenji’s platonic relationship with Juliette is v enjoyable to read. He understands her. He makes her laugh. He gives her all sorta advices.
Some scenes really felt rush and we didn’t get proper development of their bond as I’d like to read.
We’ve LITERALLY watched Juliette grow fully in this book! from her immaturity and fear or lack of courage in starting chapters to the no-insult and a fighter, Juliette was a treat to watch! Plus that ending? I’m your fan, Miss Ferrars, fr!
Warner needs to grow up a lil bit emotionally. He’s literally an all-in or all-out sort of person and I wanted his love phase, but got the ignorance phase, which was…. also justified if we see the way Juliette behaved, IYWIM.
Juliette’s revenge idea was so well written- from her denying phase to anxiety and panic attack to blaming herself to missing her every friend to finally the idea of give up or go on, and of course, the plan was simple! And which was REVENGE. Also, Warner putting his self esteem first when Juliette was being out of mind and just finding ways to accuse him to ease her pain was…… okay? like bro- you’re hurt, I understand, but waiting for you sick in love phase •^==^•
The first fight or confrontation between Adam and Juliette seemed to be so on point. I mean- there I was unable to pick out sides at some points, but most of all, Adam’s points were falling weak in front of her statements! And the mood swings, bro? Shut the calm down, firstly! I mean- yeah, he was, yet again, being all pragmatic and shi, but death was inevitable in both the cases, you can’t just survive like THAT. And Juliette, equally or should I say more (definitely) strong than him, her points were spot on, and the way she didn’t walk out of him was commendable – cuz i would. (Adam was insufferable, in short)
The fight where Adam asked her to leave was the point from where I seriously started hating that guy, Adam. he was jealous, understandable, but he was being utterly mean and insensitive about her feelings that it was so hard to control to just smack him through the book. Btw, Kenji is love! Warner’s heroic entry and all the drama that followed were hilarious and…. a bit emotional, maybe, or maybe not, thanks to Kenji and Warner!
Kenji kind of tried to gaslight me into believing that he brought Adam…. for the sake of James and to save them from inevitable death, but I still didn’t like the whole lying and manipulating thing. But the way Juliette argued and stayed on her ground was commendable (keeping in mind, the younger Juliette, she was kind of brave).
Also, brother, what the heck is wrong with Adam? He’s just being a psycho atp! I mean, he’s just throwing allegations or all sorts of accusations at Juliette just to satisfy himself? Oh, narcissistic asshole, just shut up. Wanted a Warner and his face off, but wtv.
Also, Kenji needs to stay in his lines sometimes! making fun of her emotions as if her feeling something is bad, when you are yourself suffering internally.
Their confession part was something that I felt was…. a lil bit rushed- like there’s already too much going on between you and Adam, which was not in a good state. It felt like all emotions- his mother’s death, her confusion- it all just mixed up to create a confession scene. like bro – you were ignoring her and walking out of every conversation, which gave me the ick each time, but nvm, I guess? and their spicy scene was spicy, but considering their age? Okay, I officially admit that, in my mind, they’re certainly not 17 or 19, respectively. (P.S. No thanks to Adam from Juliette’s side for making her realize her control abilities of her power- he’s a loser, officially!)
Aw, it’s so nice to see that Warner regretted doing what he did when he got to know about his relationship with Adam. He, being the bigger person in the relationship, approached him again to converse about something, hoping to know about that. oh god! but nvm ig. hoping to see their new relationship dynamics in the next book.
OMG, the whole ending of this book (the fighting scene) is v filmy, yet the way it was written was so appreciative! All the frustration, anger, pain, agony, and all that was shown beautifully. Also, Warner being missed in the end and that fierce hug and that dialogue at the end were the cherry on top. I freaking love love it.
(P.S. I did a thorough reading of all chapters just after mid of chapter 5, and please, don’t ask me why, but it definitely made me even more excited to read further on instead of getting bored or somewhat slumped upon from reading with patience….and in a fun way? idk but it was fun!)
I’d rate this book a solid 4/5.
