Here’s the blurb for y’all to update your TBR list:

It’s been sixteen days since Juliette Ferrars killed the supreme commander of North America and took over as ruler of The Reestablishment. Sixteen days since she assassinated Warner’s father. She thought she won. She took over Sector 45 and now has Warner by her side.

When tragedy strikes, Juliette must confront the darkness that consumes her world – and those she loves. Can she control the power she wields, or will it control her?

This book, oh my god, I would admit I took a 3-day break in the middle of it as I… suddenly got into a reading slump, but damn, by the end of this book, I’m speechless and all.

Juliette, being completely clueless in the beginning, was one of the reasons I wasn’t in support of her being the supreme commander. like god, no. And can you believe it, that Warner literally works under her on paper, at least, which is really absurd.

It feels so wrong to make Warner mourn on THIS level when he didn’t do the same thing after his mom’s death. idk, it certainly feels off knowing how he “trained” him in childhood.

Warner and Adam’s conversation at the start was so one-sided, yet the way Adam behaved as the guy he was in the first book was really emotional and real, honestly. He realized it, and he knew it all, which is the biggest accomplishment. But Juliette still deserved a sorry, but even though, I’m still personally paranoid about Warner and Juliette’s THIS early relationship, where there is no heart-to-heart conversation, which also makes sense as it’s time for post-war and preparing for upcoming situations.

The funniest guys are the ones who are lonely from within- again proved from the glimpses we got about Kenji’s past. He’s suffered way worse, but never said it out loud, instead choosing to be an emotionally available person who’s there for everyone and leading the way with others by his side. crazy dude.

Calling Warner a kid, Juliette stfu bro! She was literally trying to belittle him despite Kenji trying to put some sense into her, but suddenly she’s all out on proving she can do everything on her own and not listening to both Castle’s and Kenji’s advice. Like-  but but but, their awkward conversation(with Haider) was so funny and embarrassing at the same time. Also, Juliette somewhat realized she was wrong for not informing Warner, maybe.

After all this, Juliette and Warner’s conversation was a lil awkward, but they soon picked up on their chemistry, ig. Also, all the motivation Warner provided her seems more like a lover and less as a pragmatic person we always thought and even saw of him- but with Juliette, oof, it’s so bad, always. His trust level and the ability to read her emotions correctly are so cutu. But still converse more and spill all your damn secrets, please!

Always knew Nezeera was going to be good, but saving Juliette? This was unexpected, and I so wanted to hear Juliette say pretty to her, and she did, and it was, damn! Also, Haider’s intentions are surely going to be cruel bc the way Warner introspected him, and then, his own sister watching his every move keenly is v sus.
Finally, they are beginning to “resolve” their issues of misunderstanding and less communication, and I’m shrieking both from fear and excitement, it’s weird, but it’s gonna be fun as well.

Also, didn’t really realize I was missing Adam and…. somehow James as well until their scene arrived. That lil glimpse was so cutu and it’s good to see that James didn’t really lose his spark, as of now. And Kent, I was hoping for some of his scenes, but it seems like he’s not even a part of the story, and this realisation made me sad 🙁

Aw, feeling sad for Warner for tolerating, fr, KENJI after his breakup. I mean- bro, my sympathies are with you, and and and he must take these anxiety medicines just to remain this carefree guy sometimes ykwim.

Nazeera also had unnatural powers WHATTTT??? I’m screaming. But I still can’t trust her enough when she met Juliette out of nowhere in a random place like-?!!

WHATTHEFUCK? Warner FREAKING Anderson had a girlfriend even before Juliette? Oh my God? Also, Warner’s laid back attitude towards Juliette after his breakup in his conversation with Kenji was really pissing me off, but I can already see him on his knees begging for JUST a chance.

The whole breakdown scene vis-à-vis alcohol was so beautifully written- from not liking the taste to gulping sip by sip to carelessness of her own situation to cutting her hair by herself to the main guests arriving to witness unfolding events to Warner being a gentleman thoroughly. Plus, her next-day thoughts were very much accurate, as guessed by our very own Warner himself. and finally, her liking her new self (tho, I’m imagining bob cut in her head, buzz is just too much for me- I can’t, sorry)

OH MY GOD! THE LAST FREAKING CHAPTER. I’M STUNNED, I’M SORRY, I’M SPEECHLESS. AAAAGGHH. WTF WAS THAT? So, Juliette is ella, ella and freaking Aron knew each other since when? since childhood? God im dead. And Nazeera, I have a doubt she knew about her from before (when they had a conversation on the tree), but childhood? and they ALL freaking knew each other?!! God, I’m truly dead. Guess who’s even more excited to read further, but don’t forget one thing: I’m dead. I literally gasped like a crazy fish when I read freaking Aron on it with HER? AAAGHHHH. okay, bye, not overreacting, but- just a reminder(?!) I’m dead.

My pet peeve in reading is when the leads do not converse about their feelings or emotions, like guys, sit down and talk! Just TALK. And here in this book, this thing really pissed me off in many instances.

P.S. Why the heck is Castle calling Warner “son”???

Excerpt from Juliette’s journal from the asylum was fun to read as it signifies the difference between the naive, or previous Juliette, and then all we got is fearless, and new Juliette, which was damn! No words, fr! But damn!

I’d rate this book a freaking 5/5- I was going to -.05 but last chapter forced me to give a freaking 5-star rating, and I’m not kidding at this point.
