The moon. The shadow. The description at the start of the book was vague yet promising enough to interest the readers.

 

First chapter and I’m going to be fast-paced by the gruesome details which were mentioned fs. I don’t have words, honestly. It was…. traumatic, and it’s just the start? Am I terrified of further reading? Yes. Would I continue? Also yes.

 

Lyla’s life was much worse, but the intensive training, or more like punishment, she (and the other girls and young boys) faced to behave in a particular way – she felt real emotions with Shadow Man, whether in rage or arousal; it didn’t matter. She felt with him what she couldn’t with anyone. She was also strong enough to want death for people who deserved it and not someone who’ll be naive in this aspect.

 

Part 1 ended, and in short, it was brutal, utterly brutal. What she faced because of his actions would always devastate me. In the end, she has to let everything connected to him go. And him? His emotions, oh, more like his technicalities, were somewhat what he suggested his name as – devil. I wonder what his main mission was that resisted him to safeguard her safety and move her to his home (after knowing the reason, I feel hurt for him; she was near yet very far away from him). I had a hard time reading, ngl; it’s very much in detail, yet I’ve to say his saviour syndrome arrives at the last moment, which is expected as his name is known as, but I would like to know about his POV to have a better understanding of why he’s withholding her. (plot twist, he was never withholding her)

 

The first chapter of part 2 and all I’ve to say is the world is too small, and I’m crying. They were too close yet miles apart. She met them. Finally. Except no one noticed her.

 

Shadow Man may seem selfish. Maybe (read: of course) he’s selfish, but he has a bigger picture going on besides her, which could harm his plans, her, and her family – all of them who are connected with his actions.

 

It felt good to see that the Shadow Man persuaded professional help for her, which was going to be v much useful for her. Also, giving her multiple choices and the will to learn her own preferences was really mindful of him. She got what she never had – choices, which matter. Also, her being emotional even after getting financial or materialistic needs because she was not yet healed, far from the healing process, depicts her mental state – which was in vain due to trauma since her childhood.

 

Their first meet. And OhMyGawwwdddd, never have I ever imagined THAT kid to be hers. And her instinct proved to be so right about handing over the boy to him. And the promise? He fulfilled it. And it’s going to be so much less if I start speaking my mind about how much she faced? Brutal. Total brutality. But she’s brave, nonetheless.

 

Part 2 ended, and it was all about her healing journey. And his obsession taking a new turn – More. More of everything.

 

How different yet similar their definitions of love were. One was being a lil pragmatic, and the other was hopelessly chasing the meaning of romance. For me, I agree with Lyla. Be with someone who could see the real you. It’s rare but beautiful.

 

The part where he was interrogating her predators was real romance if you read it through a colorful lens. The way he was constantly remembering her (which he should)….. and not just remembering for the brutality that happened with her; he was recalling THEIR moments as well. The way he “feels” with her and all that stuff. Nevertheless, I had to say the way he was avenging & providing justice to her by both giving his presence materially, sexually, emotionally, and killing the leeches behind with utter brutality was insane.

 

She did feel power by throwing some words out of her month and just pent up agony….. but cruelty? It’s not her. And yet, he never learnt his lesson. In the start also, he provoked HIM and tried to break her down by saying disgusted words, and again, in his end moments, he never learnt. But he got what he deserved. Death. Death by the hands of her, literally!

 

MORANA VITALIO & TRISTAN FUCKING CAINE rumoured to be engaged? wtf? I’m shocked. I’m speechless. I am everything. On a side note: Tristan said to marry her in the future after Luna is found – and the irony? She found them. And they? They didn’t notice. (It’ll hurt me forever)

 

Nice way to make your loved ones release everything inside when they’re hurt and confused about how to decipher emotions, Mr. Shadow Man.

 

By the end, I love his last pov. He was selfish, but his selfishness also takes a backseat where she’s concerned, and it’s not the first time. And the book ends with her confessions!

 

Now, after reading the book, I understood why the author said in the disclaimer that this book is going to be the darkest. My eyes hurt, LITERALLY! And it’s not a great feeling as well.

 

P.S. He should read his POV to understand how much he “feels” for her. This dumbo is so laughable when he asks her to explain her emotions.

 

Excited to read the new book, but my withdrawal syndrome is asking me to read it much later, but my eagerness to know what’ll happen next says the opposite!
